Dr. Katz received his medical degree from the State University of New York, Stony Brook. He then completed an internship and residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Additionally, he completed another internship in general surgery at Cabrini Medical Center, followed by a residency in orthopedic surgery at Saint Vincent’s Catholic Medical Centers.
Dr. Katz advanced his clinical expertise by completing a fellowship in spine surgery at Seton Medical Center. He also holds certification from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. In New York State, a no-fault insurer is permitted to contract with a preferred provider organization, or PPO, for health services that are provided when an eligible injury occurs. Department Regulation 83 governs how no-fault providers receive compensation for providing care to eligible individuals. It became effective under the Comprehensive Motor Vehicle Insurance Reparations Act in 1974. It has been revised several times since, including a fee schedule that governs virtually every possible health expense that is governed under the no-fault statutes.
